Presenter Guidelines
Instructions for Oral Presenters
Please upload your PowerPoint presentation to Dropbox by 12pm, Monday 1 December. Files must be named using the session number (eg. 1A, 1B, 1C) followed by your last name.
Prior to the Session
- If you have not pre-submitted your presentation, please upload it at the Speaker Help Desk at least 1 hour before your session – although we would really appreciate pre-submission as above.
- Arrive in your presentation room at least 10 minutes prior to the session to meet the Session Chair/s.
During the Session
- The Session Chair/s will introduce you and open your presentation.
- Please keep to your allocated time. A yellow card will be shown at 5 minutes remaining, and a red card at 1 minute remaining. The Session Chair/s will then call time and move to the next presentation.
- Q&A will be facilitated by the Session Chair/s at the end of each presentation, time permitting. Some sessions may also include a dedicated discussion period at the end of the session.
Presentation Types
- Standard – 20 minutes, including 5 minutes for Q&A.
- Lightning – 10 minutes (maximum 5 slides) with no Q&A.
Presentation Protocols
All presenters are reminded of the AAA’s Code of Ethics regarding the presentation of data and/or interpretations relating to Indigenous culture. Presenters must ensure free, prior and informed consent has been obtained from Indigenous collaborators and/or data custodians before presenting such material, whether as a spoken paper or poster.
Breaches of the AAA Code of Ethics may result in disciplinary action, including expulsion of members under Section 32 of the Constitution.
